Feedback from the workshops to set agenda for further analysis
The project defined a plan for four workshops over two years. Over time the
project has been responding to the needs of the community, and content and target
audience have been more closely defined. This involved prioritising issues and
ensuring input from key implementations. Workshops covered the range of issues
encompassed by the project, the project stimulated feedback by presenting an
analytical review of the added value provided by the open archives approach.
The workshops have provided a forum for the exchange of experience between all
European initiatives (whether EC , nationally and commercially funded) -
disseminate information on exemplar systems - set priorities for exploitation
within communities of interest - provide forum for international exchange of
experience. The workshops have been held in Italy (Pisa, May 2002), in Portugal
(Lisbon, December 2002), in Germany (Berlin, March 2003), and in UK (Bath,
September 2003).
Series of domain specific perspectives on open archives

To broaden the debate for each workshop a review of the potential of OAI
(and the issues arising) had been commissioned from a domain-specific expert.
